Ms. Maryam Bibi is a long time human rights activist and presently heads an active NGO in NWFP called Khewendo Kor. She has extensive experience in the civil society sector.
"People love, feel and sympathize with children in distress. However, understanding and empathizing with children as whole human beings is scarce in all societies. Most policies related to and impacting on children’s life such as education and health are developed and implemented by others; children have remained passive recipients. This led to the neglect and deprivation of children.
SPARC has been playing a unique role in looking at children’s needs from a rights-based perspective. It has been raising awareness about the dismal plight of children in Pakistan, creating a conducive environment for debating the root causes of this situation and demonstrating that deprived children, such as working children, can be involved in the transformation of their lives. SPARC’s efforts for a better society are commendable."
Ms. Saadya Hamdani, elected to the SPARC Board in June 2003, is currently working with ILO in Islamabad. She has many years of experience overseeing program implementation with partner organizations, including SPARC, while working for donor organizations such as ROYAL NORWEGIAN EMBASSY.
"I have been associated with SPARC since 1999. I believe that SPARC is a unique organization working primarily to raise awareness and public action on the rights of children holistically. Its products are particularly important as they provide well-researched information, data and analysis on the issues of children in Pakistan. These products are extensively used by researchers, policy-makers and other interested parties to gain insights and to develop relevant programs in Pakistan, which indeed is an indicator of the organization’s objectivity and general reputation.
Its strength lies in its committed leadership and its technical expertise on the issue of child rights. However I hope to see SPARC strengthen as a sustainable organization and broaden the impact of its activities. I wish SPARC all the best in its endeavors and hope to contribute productively towards the achievement of its targets.
Mr. Gul Mastoi has extensive experience in training and has long been associated with Strengthening Partnership Organization. He now heads the Sindh program of Trust for Voluntary Organisations.
Mr. Qindeel Shujaat has been appointed the new Executive Director SPARC. He
assumed responsibilities from June 2006.
