Girl, untreated for 14 hours, dies
SILAKOT, July 29:
The heirs
to a 16-year-old girl who died at the Allama Iqbal
Memorial Hospital late on Saturday have blamed
“absent doctors and paramedics” for
her death.
Sheikh Inayatullah, of
Jaamkey Cheema, told reporters his daughter Amina
was admitted to the neuro surgery ward of the
hospital on Friday after the doctors of a private
hospital had diagnosed a brain tumour in her head.
He said that on their arrival to the hospital,
no doctor or any paramedic was present in the
ward. The girl remained there for 14 hours untreated
and later she died at the hospital.
The grieved family protested
against the pathetic attitude of doctors, saying
the absence of doctors and paramedics killed the
girl.
Inayatullah submitted an
application with police for the registration of
a case against the doctors and other staff.
Sialkot district health
officer Dr Javed Warraich said a probe had been
ordered against the doctors and paramedics and
all responsible would be brought to task.
BURIED: Two children who
had died due to the wall collapse of a PTV booster
on Saturday were laid to rest in Azizpur Bohari.
Rasheed and Mohsin died when an outer wall of
the recently-established PTV booster fell on them
during the torrential rain. The boys were taking
cover of the wall. Villagers protested against
the contractor, saying he had used substandard
material in the construction of the building of
the booster station. They also demanded the shifting
of the said booster out of the residential area.
