SPARC Center for the Rights of Children organized three-day certificate course on Child Rights and Child Protection Issues in Pakistan on June 23-25, 2007 in Islamabad. The main emphasis of three day training was to build the capacity of participants to enhance their knowledge on child rights and child protection issues.
This training was funded by FNF (FRIEDRICH NAUMANN STIFTUNG) in which they offered
Scholarship to Students of Universities doing their Masters Degree in Social Sciences i-e (Anthropology, Sociology and social work) and is keen to adopt development sector as career path.
There were 20 students participating from different Universities including Quaid-e-Azam, Iqra , International Islamic University, National University of Modern Languages, Khyber Medical College Peshawar, Law College Peshawar, and some were doing private researches and project on Child Labor but associated with different companies. The participants were co-operative, supportive, creative and enthusiastic to learn and eager to translate learning into action in pragmatic way.

SPARC had arranged meeting of the participants with Rozan leading NGO in Islamabad working on Child Sexual Abuse. The main objective of the visit is to know working of organization and to know extent of Child Sexual Abuse.
Last session of the training was to have group work to have action and lobbying points from the participants in order to face future challenges and gaps in Child Rights and Child Protection issues including Child Labor, Street Children, Juvenile Justice, and Corporal Punishment.
One of the groups on street children made their project on street children to overcome gaps and network among organization working on the same issue.
Ms Munazza Batool Project Officer of FNSt was the chief guest. She shared that she thought that I will offer a speech and distribute certificates but here the participation level and method of interation was so good. Certificates were distributed among students who have completed course successfully. Certificate Distribution Ceremony took place on the last day of the workshop.

SPARC organized this training funded by FNF. The lead facilitators of the workshop were Mr. Qindeel Shujaat Director of SPARC, Ms Shaista Yasmeen Manager Trainings & Coordination, Ms Nadia Gull Promotion Manager Lahore, Ms Saadia Rahman Assistant Program Officer Rozan, Ms Uzman Shafi Project Coordinator Plan International Islamabad and Muhammad Ijaz Khan Legal Aid Coordinator SPARC NWFP.
A feedback questionnaire was given at the end of day to evaluate sessions and facilitators performance. They like the way workshop facilitated. As people are not aware of their roles in combating child rights and child protection issues, workshops like this helps students to increase their knowledge and skills to understand better situation of child protection issues from a holistic point of view. Feedback forms shows that the topics were very much relevant in the context of child rights and child protection issues and at the same time, they have come to realize their important role in creating awareness for combating issues.
An overall result was 77.09%.
